These terms apply when you use Rev-on, a service run by Revon Assist Solutions Ltd ("Rev-on", "we", "us"), a company registered in England and Wales with company number 17423679, whose registered office is at 30 Circus Mews, Bath, BA1 2PW. By creating an account or submitting a job you agree to them. If you have questions, email harvey@revonassist.co.uk.
1. What Rev-on does
Rev-on is an introduction service. We connect motorcycle owners ("riders") with independent mechanics and garages ("businesses"). Businesses are independent. They are not our employees or agents, and any contract for work is made directly between the rider and the business.
Every business is checked and approved by Rev-on before it can take jobs. Every Rev-on registered mechanic and business must hold valid public liability or garage insurance: they can't register or take jobs without confirming it (see sections 4 and 7).
Our fee. Rev-on charges a service fee on every booked job. The fee is a percentage of the job price and is already included in the fixed price shown to the rider, so riders never pay anything extra on top. The rest of the price goes to the business that carries out the job.
2. Accounts
- You must be 18 or over and give accurate information.
- Keep your log-in details private. You're responsible for activity on your account.
- We may suspend or close accounts that break these terms or misuse the platform.
3. For riders
- Getting a price is free and you're under no obligation to accept it.
- You can choose more than one service on a job (for example an oil change and a chain and sprockets). They're priced together as one job, done by one mechanic at one booking.
- When you request a job, you choose three different dates and times that suit you. Your mechanic books one of them, so please make sure you can do all three.
- Describe the work and your motorcycle as accurately as you can. Rev-on sets the price for each job. If the job turns out to be different from what you described, we'll confirm any change in price with you before extra work is done.
- When you accept your price, you agree to make your motorcycle available at the agreed time and place and to pay the price shown in your account. That price includes Rev-on's service fee.
- Holding fee. When you accept your price, you pay Rev-on a holding fee of 20% of the job price. This is Rev-on's fee for our service of finding and booking a vetted mechanic for your job. It is taken off your price, not added to it: you pay the remaining balance directly to your mechanic when the job is done. The holding fee is paid through our payment provider, Stripe; we never see or store your full card details.
- Your right to cancel. Under the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013 you normally have 14 days to cancel a contract made online. When you accept your price, you ask us to start our service straight away, within that 14-day period, and you tick a box to confirm this. You can cancel for a full refund of the holding fee at any time until a mechanic accepts your job, either using the "Cancel this request" button on your job page or by emailing harvey@revonassist.co.uk. Refunds go back to the card you paid with and usually take 5 to 10 working days to arrive.
- When the holding fee becomes non-refundable. Our service is complete once a mechanic has accepted your job. From that point you lose the right to cancel the holding fee and it is non-refundable, except where the law says otherwise, or where the job can't go ahead because the mechanic cancels or because of something Rev-on did wrong, in which case we will find you another mechanic or refund the holding fee.
- The work itself. The work is carried out by your independent mechanic, and the balance is paid to them. If you need to rearrange or cancel the work after a mechanic has accepted, you can ask for a different time or cancel in your Rev-on account up to 24 hours before the booked time; after that, contact your mechanic and us as soon as possible. Asking for a different time doesn't change your booking until a new time is agreed, and cancelling doesn't refund the holding fee (see above). Your legal rights over the quality of the work, such as under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, are with the mechanic who carries it out, and we will do what we reasonably can to help resolve any problem.
- If your mechanic doesn't turn up. Your mechanic can arrive at any time within your booked two-hour window. If they haven't arrived or been in touch, use the "My mechanic hasn't turned up" button on your job page (it appears once your booked window starts). We'll contact you and the mechanic straight away. If the mechanic can't attend, we'll either find you another mechanic at a new time agreed with you, at the same price with your holding fee carried over, or refund your holding fee in full.
- Your invoice. When your mechanic marks the job as complete, an invoice for the work is available to download from your job page in your Rev-on account. It shows the agreed price, the holding fee you paid to Rev-on and the balance payable to your mechanic. Any extra work you agree directly with your mechanic on the day is between you and them and won't appear on it. Rev-on is not VAT registered.
- Any problem with the work should be raised with the business first. If you can't resolve it, make a complaint to us (see section 8) and we'll do what we reasonably can to help.
Damage to your motorcycle and liability for the work
- The work is carried out by the independent mechanic or business you're booked with, not by Rev-on. The mechanic or business is responsible for the work they carry out and for any loss of or damage to your motorcycle, its parts or your property caused while they're doing the job, including while your motorcycle is in their care, custody or control.
- Every Rev-on registered mechanic and business must hold public liability insurance (or garage insurance) for motorcycle work with cover of at least £1,000,000 per claim, and must keep it in place for as long as they use Rev-on. They have to confirm this before they can register and before they can take any job.
- If your motorcycle is damaged, tell the mechanic straight away and take photos, then let us know using the complaint form in your account. Any claim for damage is made against the mechanic or business, and their insurance, not Rev-on. We'll pass on their business details and do what we reasonably can to help you resolve it.
- Please remove valuables and accessories you don't need worked on before the job, and tell your mechanic about any existing damage or faults so they can be noted at the start.
4. For businesses
- You must have the skills, tools and, where needed, qualifications for the jobs you accept.
- You must hold public liability insurance (or garage insurance) for motorcycle work with cover of at least £1,000,000 per claim for the whole time you use Rev-on. You can't register or take jobs without confirming this. You must provide proof when we ask for it and tell us straight away if your cover lapses or changes. We may suspend your account until valid cover is in place.
- Rev-on sets the price for every job. By accepting a job you agree to do it at that price. Once a rider books you, you must contact them promptly and turn up within the booked time window.
- If a rider reports that you haven't turned up, we'll contact you straight away. If you can't attend, we may take you off the job and give it to another mechanic. Failing to attend accepted jobs may lead to your account being suspended or closed.
- You are responsible for the work you carry out, for any loss of or damage to a rider's motorcycle, parts or property caused while you're doing the job or while the motorcycle is in your care, and for complying with the law and your own tax and business affairs. Rev-on is not responsible for your work or for any such loss or damage, and claims are dealt with between you, the rider and your insurer.
- Mark each job as complete in your portal when it's finished. This makes the rider's invoice available to them.
- You may only use riders' details to arrange and complete the job they booked with you.
- Rev-on keeps a percentage of each job price as its service fee, and you receive the rest. We'll confirm the percentage with you in writing before you take your first job, and give you notice before it changes.
- Riders pay Rev-on's fee upfront as a holding fee when they accept their price. You collect the remaining balance (shown in your portal as "You collect") directly from the rider when the job is done.
- Once approved, your business appears in our public Find a mechanic directory, showing your business name, type, area (the first part of your postcode), travel distance, services, experience, insurance status, description and profile picture. Your email, phone number and full address are never shown. Ask us if you'd prefer not to be listed.
5. Acceptable use
Don't use Rev-on to send spam, post false information, harass anyone, try to get around the platform to avoid fees, or interfere with how the site works.
6. Vehicle data
Vehicle details come from the DVLA Vehicle Enquiry Service. We show them in good faith but can't guarantee they're accurate or up to date.
7. Our liability
We check businesses and require them to hold liability insurance before they can take jobs, but we don't carry out or supervise the work. The mechanic or business that carries out a job is responsible for it, and for any damage caused while doing it (see "Damage to your motorcycle and liability for the work" above), and Rev-on is not liable for their work, acts or omissions. Nothing in these terms limits liability that can't be limited by law, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or your rights under consumer law. Otherwise, our total liability to you is limited to the greater of £100 or the holding fee you paid for the job concerned.
8. Complaints
If something goes wrong, use the "Make a complaint" link on your job page or in your account. Tick what it's about, tell us what happened and what you'd like to happen, and tick "Please call me" if you'd like a call back. You can also email harvey@revonassist.co.uk. We'll acknowledge your complaint and aim to respond within 2 working days. Where the complaint is about the work or damage, we'll contact the mechanic or business and do what we reasonably can to help resolve it, but responsibility for the work stays with them (see section 7).
9. Changes and ending
We may update these terms and will post the new version here. You can close your account at any time by emailing us.
10. Law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction.
